About REMAND

REMAND is an inspiring true story of the transformation of Uganda’s criminal justice program, sparked by one man’s quest for justice on behalf of a juvenile prisoner. This is the film about the power of an idea. The audience will look deep into the faces of despair through the eyes of twelve law students as they meet several prisoners in their darkest hours, and watch as the story unfolds and leads to dramatic change in the criminal justice system of an entire country.

The Global Justice Program provides law students and lawyers with a unique opportunity to have a direct impact on the justice system in the developing world. “Our program imbeds law students in numerous judicial systems around the world for summer internships and connects practicing lawyers with a once-in-a-life-time opportunity to influence the development of the law in underdeveloped nations,” say Pepperdine Professor Jim Gash, who directs the Program.

Numerous international news outlets, including the BBC and Washington Post, have shared with their audiences this captivating story of human transformation and structural reform within a country’s justice system.
