In a recent opinion piece published on, Dr. Nelson Granados, Pepperdine Graziadio School associate professor of information systems, explores Qrates, a new venture that allows artists and labels to digitally aggregate global demand for vinyl records. Qrates works by crowdsourcing demand via and crowdfunding the production, a process that turns the vinyl value chain on its head by going from a push-based model (production drives sales) to pull-based (demand drives production).
