Dr. Bernice Ledbetter Affirms There is No Place for Harmful Rhetoric in the Workplace

A regular contributor to the Huffington Post on matters relating to gender and diversity in the workplace, Dr. Bernice Ledbetter comments for HuffPost on the release of a memo by former Google employee James Damore and why she feels his firing by Google was justified.

Dr. Ledbetter says the problem with the memo "was not that it went against the liberal grain of Silicon Valley, but that it was disrespectful. Instead of promoting different, productive ideas, the memo was a slap in the face to efforts to promote greater diversity in the technology industry. Instead of offering ideas about how to empower minorities and women to be more integrated at Google and other tech firms, Mr. Damore's memo was demeaning and degrading." Dr. Ledbetter is Practitioner Faculty of Organizational Theory and Management and Academic Director of the MS in Management and Leadership program at the Pepperdine Graziadio Business School, and Director of the Center for Women in Leadership.
