Dr. Mark Tribbitt Receives 2018 Highly Commended Emerald Literati Award

Dr. Mark Tribbitt, assistant professor of strategy at Pepperdine Graziadio Business School, recently received a 2018 Highly Commended Emerald Literati Award for his article, "An Agency Perspective on the Board of Directors and Corporate Entrepreneurship," published in September of 2016.

The Emerald Literati Awards have rewarded outstanding contributions to scholarly research for 25 years. Submissions are judged on six specific areas of assessment and rewarded in three categories: outstanding and highly commended papers; outstanding reviewers; and outstanding author contributions.

Dr. Tribbitt’s paper, "An Agency Perspective on the Board of Directors and Corporate Entrepreneurship," analyzed the impact of board dependence and antitakeover provisions on corporate entrepreneurship. Using an agency framework. Dr. Tribbitt collected data from 350 publicly traded firms and utilized panel regression analyses to examine two components of corporate entrepreneurship: venturing components and innovation. Dr. Tribbitt’s finding of a negative relationship between board dependence and corporate entrepreneurship will help firms understand the role of the board of directors on fostering corporate entrepreneurship within their organizations.

Dr. Mark Tribbitt is an assistant professor of strategy and the academic director of the Full-Time MBA program at Pepperdine Graziadio Business School. During his 14 years of experience in financial services, Dr. Tribbitt served in management for commercial, wholesale, and retail banking. Dr Tribbitt earned his BS in finance from the University of Delaware, his MBA from Villanova University, and his PhD in strategic management from Drexel University. Dr. Tribbitt has presented his work at academic conferences around the world, and is a member of multiple academic associations.
