The City of Malibu will celebrate the 25th anniversary of its founding on Monday, March 28, at City Hall. Representatives and members of the Pepperdine community are invited to join the Malibu City Council, neighbors, and friends in marking this important milestone in the city's history.

Since becoming a neighbor of the city, Pepperdine has endeavored to be an asset and active part of the Malibu community. This meaningful relationship has been strengthened through annual and ongoing partnerships with the city, local business, and residents of Malibu. The Pepperdine University Libraries’ Malibu Historical Collection; partnerships between local charities and the Pepperdine Volunteer Center; and the commitment to Malibu Dark Sky between the Malibu Community Alliance and Pepperdine’s Center for Sustainability are only a few examples of the impactful work that the University and the City of Malibu come together to do.

The 25th anniversary celebration will begin at 7 PM when the "Art of the Board,” a surfboard art installation celebrating Malibu’s surfing history and culture, will be unveiled. Food, commemorative gifts, and a live band will also be featured at the celebration.

For those interested, the city council meeting will take place at 6 PM, prior to the celebration, and special recognitions will be presented to those who have played a guiding role in shaping Malibu. A special commemorative video produced for the anniversary will also be screened.

Malibu City Hall is located at 23825 Stuart Ranch Road, Malibu, CA 90265. This event is free and open to all ages; RSVP is not required. For more information, visit: malibucity.org/25years
