Prayer Service for Orlando Shooting Victims

June 13, 2016  | 1 min read

Our hearts are broken with news of tragedy in Orlando, Florida, this weekend. In times of pain, fear, and grief, it is important to gather in faith communities for prayer and reflection.

During our regular academic year, we often pray for such tragedies during chapel and other campus gatherings. Because classes are not in session at this time, University chaplain Sara Barton is calling a special service to offer an opportunity for prayer and pastoral care.

Please join us at 4:30 PM today, June 13, in Stauffer Chapel on the Malibu Campus as we pray for God's comforting presence for all who are grieving, the LGBTQ community, and interfaith efforts for peace in our world. In the face of these realities, we are uplifted by scripture: "Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted" (Matthew 5:4).

For those in the Pepperdine community who cannot join us, we urge you to simply stop what you are doing and join us in prayer where you are.
