Special Collections Book Club: Quest for Distinction

March 27, 2017  | 1 min read

The Special Collections Book Club will host the second discussion in a three-part series to explore renowned historian and Seaver College Dean Emeritus David Baird’s book, Quest for Distinction: Pepperdine University in the 20th Century.

The event will be held on Wednesday, March 29, from 3 to 4 PM in the TAC first floor conference room.

Published in 2016, Baird's new history of Pepperdine offers a thorough examination of the University's quest to distinguish itself academically without sacrificing its founding Christian principles.

Led by Pepperdine's chancellor Mike Adams and with input from Baird, this discussion will focus on sections three to five of the book and engage with some of the far-ranging themes that make up this compelling new narrative.

A pop-up exhibition of related materials from Special Collections will be on view before and after the event.

This is a no-pressure book club (all are welcome regardless of how much of the book you have read). Space is limited and RSVPing is strongly recommended. To RSVP for the sessions, visit the Quest for Distinction registration page
