The fall 2019 issue of Pepperdine Magazine celebrates dynamic, empowered, and empowering women across the university who are shifting cultural landscapes, shaping and reshaping industries, and innovating in powerful and purposeful ways. The cover story featuring 32 outstanding women in leadership honors alumnae of all five schools and highlights their journeys to success, both in their personal lives and in their careers. Further exploring the theme, Pepperdine scholars and alumnae reveal how stories told by women, about women, validate both women’s experiences and their authority in their respective fields. This issue also highlights the trailblazing work of Ann Gladys (EdD ’14), a pioneer in the virtual workspace landscape, who shares her expertise in managing digital offices, and Mandy Smoker Broaddus ('97), the first Native American woman to serve as Montana’s poet laureate, who discusses her experiences as an education and social justice advocate.
